The 'G' Hotel

"G" Hotel (Galway): Main contractor construction value - $104 million

Our package – labour only site carpentry and hotel fit out - $2.9m

The iconic 5 star g Hotel was built by John Sisk and sons. This 103 bedroom hotel is a 5* Douglas Wallace Architects design collaborated with design director, Philip Treacy, to create a five-star hotel interior unlike anything seen before in Ireland.

This was Philip’s first collaboration on hotel design in which he wanted to give the client an end product which would truly stand out from the crowd. The g's 103 deluxe rooms include three individually designed suites. The quality of their design and finishes will secure the g's reputation for cutting-edge chic. The attention to detail is evident everywhere - from the use of colour and exquisite materials, to the choice of the hotel's artwork. The bathrooms are in fossiled Jura limestone, with double showers in all suites and bathroom products by Etro - exclusively made in Milan for the g. A dramatic light installation comprising more than 300 of avant-garde designer Tom Dixon's famous mirror balls illuminate the double-height central foyer. This complements the hotel's striking contemporary architecture.

From the outset of the project Segma’s Project manager was involved to develop details, incorporate new materials, ideas and the “x” factor which makes the hotel unique. One fulsome quote from an interior magazine notes “a combination of incredible finishes and a unique use of space that architects will try to copy for years to come”.

The g Hotel was part of a phased development totaling 68,000 m2 over a 3 acre site which included:
• Underground car park
• 14 retail units
• 9-screen, state-of-the-art cinema
• 2000 m2 spa for ESPA
